Welcome to David Karasek's Website
Republican Candidate for Florida State House of Representatives District 2

Thank you for visiting my site while showing interest in my campaign as I take this great opportunity to speak with you.

I am David Karasek, and I am a candidate for House District 2. I am a lifelong resident of Escambia County, a graduate of Escambia High School, and honorably discharged veteran of the Armed Forces.

After 6 years in the military, I joined the Florida Highway Patrol at the age of 24, and retired in March of 2008 after 31 plus years. I spent 75% of my law enforcement career in Escambia County. The last 17 years I served in Pensacola as the Florida Highway Patrol District Commander supervising Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties.

During my career I observed first- hand the wasteful use of tax dollars. While on the patrol I witnessed everything from the authorizing of needless expenditures, to the unlimited wasteful spending, to the reckless budgeting with the entire controlling concept being, “IF YOU DON’T SPEND IT YOU WILL LOSE IT”.

The duplication of services in Tallahassee is great and the checks and balances are dwindling with the introduction of each and every new government program. I want this to stop.

I have observed duplication of services within state government that eats away at our tax base. When serving as District Commander, I would always attempt to utilize the tax dollars in the most efficient way possible. Whether it was through scheduling, personnel assignments, or use of state equipment; I will ensure that efficiency and effective use of state dollars becomes paramount when elected.

During the last several years of my career I had the unfortunate occasion of dealing with an overabundance of hurricanes. Through my leadership, I ensured that the area had resources needed to weather the storm. However, one of my greatest frustrations was the fact of waiting for needed supplies. This was due to the state requiring a hurricane landfall before transporting supplies to the area.

I always thought, "Why wouldn't Escambia County be a distribution area much like Tallahassee and have these needed supplies on hand”; I will see to this when elected.

Folks, one thing I can promise when elected is that I will be approachable and will get the citizens involved in economic development, which is paramount to the crisis we face. I feel now that more cuts should be made, especially at the top end of state government.

I will use my many years as a public servant to serve and represent the citizens of District 2.

This is why I need your support and your contribution, and most importantly your vote August 24, 2010.
